The real aim of the so-called "No Taxpayer Money for Politicians Act" is to end Arizona's Clean Elections system, which funds campaigns for statewide and legislative office. But nowhere in the proposed constitutional amendment is the name Clean Elections mentioned.

Instead, the petition talks about spending the cost of publicly-funded campaigns on education and health care for seniors. This implies that Clean Elections is taking general fund money away from these uses. More about Decline to Sign...

Latest News

Keep It Clean is featured in the latest (June 14) issue of The Nation. The editorial is titled “The Big Money Election.” It notes that the backers of the Big Money Special Interests Amendment to repeal Clean Elections, have conservative ties that run all the way up to U.S. House Majority Leader Tom Delay and President Bush. Phoenix businessman Ken Kendrick, who gave $10,000 to the Special Interests Amendment, is a year 2000 Bush “Pioneer,” meaning he bundled $100,000 for the Bush campaign.
